                                                                      Annotation #5

As my final annotation, I decided to research Adderall addiction treatment. How are users going to be able to stay off this drug? An article on recovery.org reveals that staying off is a proccess. First, the people will suffer from fatigue, depression, heart rhythm changes and cravings. The amount of time these last depends on how long the drug was being abused. Long term users can suffer for several weeks, and some even go back to abusing the drug to get rid of the withdrawal symptoms. Some users decide to go to recovery centers to get professional help, which of course can cost a bundle of money. There, treatments include detoxification which eliminates the drug from the body and reduces addiction and cravings. Before this process starts, the patient is given small doses of Adderall and until the dosage is almost nothing. It goes until the body can no longer sense a withdrawal. After this treatment is complete, users go to therapy and other drug programs until doctors know the patient is ready to go back to the real world. This is a process and not ever abuser choses or can afford it. Some people get off on their own but many tend to relapse or not have the willpower to stay off. Adderall is an addictive and abusive drug. I liked this article because I could understand the process of getting off the pill and elaborate on the information given to me. Some of my questions are: are these symptoms worth it? Do users know about these symptoms and still use Adderall? What are the success rates of users getting off the drug? How many people go to treatment centers and how many chose to get off on their own?
